School Patrol

Brimhall is very proud of its bus safety patrol program.  The Brimhall School Patrol organization is made up of approximately 50 sixth grade volunteers. The job of the school patrol is safety.  The patrols have three major responsibilities:

  • 1) to help the bus driver safely transport students to and from school,
  • 2) to escort kindergarten students to and from the buses at school, and
  • 3) to help with loading and unloading of buses at school.
  • 4) Some patrols help our walking students cross the streets safely.

Bus safety patrol volunteers are trained by Mrs. Bidne before school begins in the fall.  A representative from the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department takes part in the instruction.  Bus patrols are encouraged to be trained in peer mediation and conflict resolution.  The skills that are acquired support the work patrols do each day.  Patrols meet on a monthly basis with a school supervisor to review expectations and discuss concerns.

Parents:  you can help the bus safety patrols by talking with your children about bus safety and appropriate behavior on the bus.  The patrols work hard to keep Brimhall students safe and your support is greatly appreciated.

Throughout the school year the patrols participate in special activities to thank them for the work that they do.  Thank you, Patrols, for a job well done.
