Community Education is an educational philosophy that stresses citizen involvement in the identification of community needs and interests. It is an idea based on the concept of lifelong learning. Community Education creates an environment that views education as anything that enhances life experience. Thus, educational activities, enrichment classes, academic courses, public forums, Adult Basic Education, adult with disabilities programs, parenting, Early Childhood Family Education, youth development, extended day, senior citizen programs, and training to secure employment are all defined as components of Community Education.
Origins of Community Education Roseville Minnesota
No one knows the exact origins of Community Education. It goes back to the first time a group of people got together to solve that group's problems and meet that group's needs and who knows exactly when this might have been?
Roseville Minnesota Community Education in as we know it today began in the Midwest during the Depression. It has since spread to all 50 states in the US and to many countries throughout the world.
The mission of Roseville Area Schools' Community Education in Roseville Minnesota is to identify needs, link resources, facilitate programs and services for people of all ages and abilities. The mission of the Minnesota Community Education Association is to provide leadership in the creation of an educational environment in which citizen involvement and lifelong learning are essential.
Community Education in Minnesota has three goals
To provide lifelong learning opportunities to all members of the community
To promote and develop community support for the K-12 programs.
To build strong communities that allow citizens to achieve their greatest potential.
Minnesota is recognized as a national leader in Community Education. Community Education exists in all Minnesota school districts. Community Education not only has an impact on local communities, it also affects the quality of people's lives throughout the entire state.
