9-12 Credit Make Up & GRAD Test Prep

Credit Make Up is available for any student who has failed a required course in English (Language Arts), Math, Science, Social Studies or Health. Classes are graded pass/fail only. Students can make up two credits in Summer School. For questions regarding course selection, contact your school counselor.

GRAD Re-Test Preparation & Testing

Monday - Friday, June 25 – July 27, 2012 **Tentative**

Re-test preparation courses are for students who have not passed GRAD Writing, GRAD Reading or GRAD math. GRAD Writing, Reading and Math scores will be available the first week of June and direct communication will be given to students who need to retest. Re-tests will be given upon completion of the class. Writing GRAD will be given one day only, Tuesday, July 24th. The Reading and Math GRAD tests will be Tuesday, August 7 or Wednesday, August 15th. Students will be notified which day they are scheduled to test after they register.

Bridging Program (Going into 9th Grade)

The Bridging Program is designed to help students who may be at risk of not meeting the challenge of transitioning from 8th grade to high school. It is available to students going into 9th grade who need help in Language Arts, Science, Math or Social Studies. Students are referred based on MAP scores and academic history. Parents of referred students will receive letters and registration information in April. Instructors will review 8th grade skills and introduce 9th grade curriculum. They will also help to familiarize students with the high school building, routines, and study skills that will help the student become successful in high school. Upon successful completion, students will earn one elective credit per course. For students entering 9th grade only.

The RAHS High School Summer EL program is designed to provide up to two credits of leveled EL instruction. Students will be recommended by their current EL teachers for the level most appropriate for them. The levels are Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

Registration can be completed through your high school counselor or on the attached registration form. If you have any questions about the class/classes needed please check with the student’s counselor. If openings exist, registration will be accepted until the Friday before classes begin.

Attendance
Student must attend and be on time to receive credit. Any student registered for credit who misses more than two days in a class will be dropped from that class and will not be able to receive full credit.  Three tardies to a class will be counted as one day of absence.

Transportation
Limited transportation to Summer School is provided by District 623. The bus pick up and drop off locations will be all district elementary schools and the middle school.  Also there are limited stops at selected larger apartment complexes.  See attached tentative bus schedule.

Confirmation & Schedule
A confirmation of registration will be sent after registration is received. Class schedules will be available at RAHS at 7:45am on the first day of class.
